For the First Time in Morocco, and more to come

Mr. Amahzoun Youssef won Hassan II Trophy and ranked 2nd for the European championship

For the first time in Morocco, the International Shooting Federation has recently organized the European Championship, with the coordination of the Moroccan Shooting Federation F.R.M.T.A.C and sponsored by a group of private Moroccans investors and professionals of this sport. The event took place at Tangiers Shooting Club from 3rd to 9th June.

This move comes as an effort from Moroccan businessmen and professionals of tourism and sports events to participate in the economic development of the Moroccan Northern provinces to boost sportive and touristic activities and to reinforce the infrastructures of these two important sectors of the economy of the region.

Participants have competed for the Moroccan Airlines Company Royal Air Maroc trophy, Sochatour trophy, President of Tangiers club trophy, Tangiers city trophy, European championship Trophy, and King Hassan II trophy.

Mr. Amahzoune Youssef from Morocco won the Trophy Hassan II in its sixth edition this year, followed by the Spanish Garcia Amengal (2nd) and Rojo Ruiz Bosco (3rd).

As for the European Trophy, Youssef Amahzoune was ranked 2nd for the European championship (26/27), the title is won by the Portuguese Joao CAVAJO (27/27). Other Moroccans were ranked among the top twenty, like Jamal Amahzoune (8th), Mohamed Mesfioui (12th) and Lagrich (14th).

Three hundred thirty participants from twelve countries were among the competitors, two from Andorra, one from Australia, one from Brazil, ninety eight from Spain, sixteen from France, one hundred and twenty three from Italy, sixty from Morocco, one from Mexico, three from Porto Rico, twenty three from Portugal, four from the U.S.A., and one from Venezuela.

Tangiers Shooting Club was established approximately 30 years ago. The shooting ground is located just off Tangier, along the road to the capital city of Rabat. The club is situated at a green farm in the middle of the picturesque and famous "Diplomatic Forest" countryside overlooking Tangiers landscape.

Tangiers Shooting Club management has undergone recently a tremendous extension work with new projects and facilities achieved to make this club unique in its kind. The extension includes a 60 room/Bungalow hotel, two Olympics swimming pools (heated), eight tennis courses, and various fields for popular sports like football, basket ball and hand ball. The cost of the recent extension is evaluated to thirty five million dirhams.

Many Moroccan contractors and entrepreneurs have participated in this project, and the club does not look any more like before. According to reliable sources, more projects are under studies and the most important plan is looks to make of the place a real attractions for tourists and shooting enthusiasts.

Over the years, the Club management, headed by its president Mr. M'hammad El Korti, has developed the grounds extensively and this is being constantly maintained. All members of his team are always looking of ways to make further improvements of the club and its various facilities.

Describing Tangiers Shooing Club, Mr. El Korti M'hammad, president of the club said: "The best heart-to-heart word to describe our Club will be insufficient, because we will just express our passion for this sport while describing it, well, this club is in itself a passion. A passion that is driving us very strongly to build, develop and improve it constantly to be able to make it one of the best shooting clubs in the world."

The shoot consists of a sporting layout with numerous stands suitable for the complete novice to the experienced shooter. The shoot is fully automatic and there are gravel paths to all stands.

There are two large car parks at the entrance to the grounds. The clubhouse is positioned just a few steps from the car parks.

The club, as well as tours operators can set up a full sporting package, consisting of clay pigeon shooting and make all necessary arrangements for you to have an amazing shooting adventure in Morocco.

The shooting ground can be hired for corporate days, with tuition for beginners, as well as for your party day. It is possible to arrange full entertainment parties in the clubhouse, with hot beverages and snacks available throughout the day.

In the ground floor, we find the president's office, two armories, 3 storing facilities, two garages and 6 paddock of shooting.

In the first floor, a tea saloon, a Moroccan saloon, two European saloons, one restaurant, a meeting room, and corridors all around the facilities.

Total size of the club is 25 hectares, 6500 square meters are already constructed. As for the pigeonry, there are 30 units for pigeon shooting, of a storage capacity of 25000 pigeons.
