Moroccan American
By Mehdi Amal
I just want to say first and for most, I am a proud Moroccan-American, (who by the way has never lived in Morocco a day in his life).
I was born here, in Washington DC, but from what I have learned from my parents and my family in Casa, I am the first one to jump when I see something that benefits OUR country.
To be Moroccan is the best thing in the world to me. I am not by a long shot anywhere near political, but one thing I have seen in the years growing up is how intelligent and street smart the Moroccan people are.
I can say I am a lucky person to have the opportunity to take advantage of what being born in the US has given me. I Wish that I would have grown up in Morocco, with my family and being around other Moroccans during Ramadan and just being able to do what it is that Moroccans do best ... Be Moroccan ... This site proves my point better than anyway imaginable. I mean look how far apart we are and yet we still share a common bond.
I only hope that other Moroccan parents teach their children born out of morocco the way my parents, (Abdelkader and Hnia Amal) the way my sister and I were taught.
We know the language. We love our country, and most importantly we LOVE MOROCCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
